TEF exam
Within the francophone world, there are several types of exams such as the TEF, which, with a certain level, can earn you points for permanent residency and citizenship in Canada. These exams essentially provide a snapshot of your French proficiency. Therefore, it’s important to attain the required level before taking the exams to ensure eligibility for points or the necessary access.
DELF/ DALF exams
The academic exams for foreign languages offered in Europe adhere to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with levels ranging from A1 for beginners to C2 for advanced proficiency.
In order to gain admission to certain francophone universities, it is highly recommended, and sometimes mandatory, to complete the DELF B2 (some institutions accept the B1 level) or the DALF (C1 or C2, particularly for PhD programs). These certifications demonstrate a candidate’s proficiency in the French language and are crucial for pursuing higher education in French-speaking countries.
